Rooted in Purpose - Growing in Impact

The Rochester Women’s Giving Circle (RWGC) is a community of women who recognize that they have greater strength and potential for positive community impact when they give together.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is to strengthen the Monroe County community by supporting education, job training, and skill-building programs that enable women and girls living in poverty to transition to a lifetime of economic self-sufficiency.

RWGC operates with a simple philosophy: money in, money out. Each year's member contributions (minus a small amount for ongoing operations) are awarded the next year as grants going directly to programs for women and girls. As an all-volunteer organization with minimal overhead, we are able to have maximum impact supporting local organizations doing essential work.

Fostering Growth

We are also a learning community, committed to growing as philanthropists, deepening our understanding of social change, racial biases, and being directly involved in shaping a more equitable and prosperous future for Rochester. As we listen, learn, and act with humility, we’re building stronger partnerships with grantees, with other organizations in our community and striving to be more inclusive, informed, and impactful funders.  Our Education Committee is dedicated to bringing in speakers from the community who share with us the current needs in Monroe County and actions being taken to address them. We partner closely with the Rochester Area Community Foundation and we are a member of Philanos, a network of more than 100 women’s collective giving organizations that are making an impact in their communities by combining their financial and intellectual resources.
